Attitudes toward innovation also varry according to the nature of the dominant ideology in a society.  Some ideologies generate a very conservative outlook and oppose change; Confucianism is an example of such a faith.  Capitalism, in contrast, has been much more supportive of innovation and change (1991, p. 57).
